May 9 riots were not spontaneous attacks but rather were planned at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence: Maryam Nawaz

VEHARI, May 26 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President and Party’s Chief Organizer, Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that May 9 riots were not spontaneous attacks but rather were planned at Imran Khan’s residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed these views while addressing a PML-N Youth Convention in Vehari on Friday. She further said that May 9 riots did not happen suddenly and added this was an act of terrorism which was planned at Zaman Park.

She said that even Pakistan’s worst enemies could not manage to do what Imran Niazi did.” She questioned, “Why Imran Khan’s miscreants only targeted Corp Commander’s House? Many government buildings came in the way but no one attacked them but they went straight to Corp Commander House.”

Maryam Nawaz said that Imran Khan was not alone in attacking the military installation, saying that his facilitators were also joining him. “I am saying this openly that this was an open rebellion against Pakistan Army and Imran was the leader of this act.”

She said that the process had started when Imran removed General Asim Munir as the DG ISI and replaced him with General Faiz Hameed.  She added that former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his daughter do not believe in revenge but they do believe in “makafaat-e-amal” (Karma).

She further said, “Imran, in his arrogance, thought if he dissolved NA, Punjab or K-P assemblies then he would win, he thought if he attacked Pakistan Army then he would emerge victorious but it did not happen. Those who used to say ‘tera baap bhi dega azadi’ (even your father will give freedom) were in a miserable position.” She added that Fawad Chaudhry did not only leave the prison but also left PTI.

She said that nor did Nawaz Sharif bowed his head neither did his daughter or workers, adding that Imran Khan, in order to protect himself, is putting his workers in harm’s way. “When your leader is a jackal why would people stand behind him,” she said, commenting on leaders leaving PTI.

“When you put a black bucket on your head to avoid arrest what message would your workers get,” she questioned. “Not only your people are leaving you, they are also giving testimonies that Imran Khan was the planner of May 9 riots.”

Maryam said that only Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan left Nawaz Sharif who also gave testimony that Nawaz Sharif was honest. She accused Khan of using women in his party as human shields and condemned the stark contrast between the treatment of his workers and his own sons’ luxurious lifestyles abroad.

“Imran even used women in his party as human shield,” Maryam Nawaz exclaimed, highlighting what she perceived as the ex-prime minister’s disregard for the well-being of female members of his party.

She expressed her concern that while Khan’s workers face lengthy prison sentences, the person who planted seeds of hatred in their minds was roaming free and his sons enjoying a life of opulence overseas.

Directly addressing Khan, the PML-N leader declared, “Your time is not far away. Imran Khan, you are finished. Imran Khan, your game is over.” She warned the former premier that his political reign would soon come to an end. “This dirt will drown in the same nullah it started from,” she said.

While expressing her sentiments, Maryam also acknowledged a perceived sense of stability in the country since the revelation of what she referred to as an “anti-Pakistan scheme.” The specifics of this scheme were not elaborated upon, but Maryam implied that its exposure had a positive impact on the nation.

Taking aim at PTI leader Khadija Shah, whose video recently made rounds on social media, Maryam said that when police came to arrest her, she claimed of having citizenship of another country despite doing her business here in Pakistan and living her life here.

Maryam Nawaz accused Shah of engaging in business activities in Pakistan but attempting to distance herself from the country when faced with legal consequences. “You do business in Pakistan, continue all dirty work, but when authorities come, you put on a burqa and say you don’t belong here,” she remarked.

Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz said that people would never forgive Imran Khan, nor the judges whom she accused of acting as facilitators for him. “When this person went to court after doing corruption, CJP Bandial welcomed him. Not only that he was allowed to be in a guest house along with friends for one night,” she added.
