Mehmood Ahmed Saghar thanks UN Special Rapporteur Fernand de Varennes for voicing concern over situation in IoK

ISLAMABAD, May 17 (SABAH): Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan chapter Mehmood Ahmed Saghar has expressed his profound gratitude to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on minority issues, Fernand de Varennes, for voicing his concern over the India’s decision to hold G20 meetings in Srinagar and its implications on the Human Rights situation in the region.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar while hailing the UN Special Rapporteur said that the UN expert has rightly pointed out that holding a g20 meeting in Srinagar while massive human rights violations are ongoing was tantamount to lending support to attempts by India to normalize the brutal & repressive denial of democratic & other rights of Kashmiri Muslims and minorities.

The APHC leader said that the statement serves an eye-opener for the world particularly the G-20 nations who have been invited by New Delhi to attend the summit event being held in the region, which it had occupied illegally against the will and wishes of Kashmiri people.

Mehmood Ahmed Saghar said that the G20 countries should heed to the clarion calls emanating from within and outside Kashmir, uphold International human rights obligations and take a unified stand on Kashmir and denounce the human rights violations being committed by the Indian occupation forces.
