Rana Sanaullah says he requested Maulana Fazlur Rehman to change location of protest due to security concerns

ISLAMABAD, May 14 (SABAH): Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that the violent protests took place in the country and proper planning was used to attack important properties in the country while calling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan a ‘rabble rouser’ who always focused on politics of hatred.

Rana Sanaullah Khan, while addressing a press conference along with

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday, said Imran Khan did not condemn the attack that took place on May 9 and May 10 and he was awarded blanket relief suggesting that the PTI chief should form its ‘proscribed party’.

He said Imran Khan utilized the corrupt money and method to develop a so-called trust by looting the nation’s Rs60 billion mentioning only Imran Khan and his wife’s names were included in the trust.

The minister added Imran Khan was not cooperating with investigation authorities regarding the plunder he did highlighting despite corruption of Rs60 billion, the chief justice welcomed PTI chief graciously.

Talking about the protests starting today (Monday), Rana Sanaullah said he requested the PDM Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to change the location of protest due to security concerns while hoping that he was expecting a positive response.

He added the people were angry and if protests occurred in Red Zone, then it would be difficult to control the people and PDM chief was yet to reach a decision.

Rana Sanaullah said that reports provided by security agencies regarding the protest planned by the Pakistan Democratic Movement outside the Supreme Court tomorrow were “very alarming”.

He said that there was a lot of anger in the people for the apex court because of specific decisions taken by “a three-member bench” in the past few days. “We are scared that if the protest is held in the Red Zone tomorrow, the Islamabad police have said that it will be difficult to control the protesters. So I and Ishaq Dar went to Fazlur Rehman and requested him to hold the protest outside the Red Zone” he said.

He added every political party and worker had right to constructively criticise the institution if there was any difference adding remaining in limit was very important mentioning the recent protests by the PTI were unacceptable national institutions were criticized and properties attacked.

Rana Sanaullah said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s violence in last few days was pre-planned. He regretted that fighter jet of MM Alam was also set on fire which is a pride of Pakistan. He said PTI should be banned but it requires a due legal process.

He said government has already pointed out that Imran Khan is pursuing politics of hatred. He urged the public to minus Imran Khan from politics using their power of vote.

Rana Sanaullah said corruption of sixty billion rupees was unearthed in Al-Qadir Trust case. He said Imran Khan also deceived his cabinet.

Rana Sanaullah suggested that Imran Khan could be arrested again if he was found to be involved in the recent protests across the country.

He stated that every time the PTI took to the streets, the same 100-200 people were found to be involved in violent activities. “So this means that they have been trained to do this. “Imran has trained them and they are his investment,” the minister said. “These are terrorists … they were trained for eight months and they were told to go and set fire to specified locations.”

Rana Sanaullah lamented the way Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial “welcomed” PTI Chairman Imran Khan post his arrest. He said that Imran Khan had caused damages worth billions of rupees and had refused to be investigated for it. “And when NAB arrested him, he held protests in a specific direction leading to attacks on state institutions.

“But when he comes to the Supreme Court after that, he is welcomed by best wishes … and what happened at the Islamabad High Court next week … everything is in front of you,” he said.

He castigated PTI Chairman Imran Khan for his response to DG ISPR — in which he had advised the army to form a political party — in his first speech after release on Saturday. “Seeing everything you [PTI] have done … the party is no longer political and deserves to be banned,” Rana Sanaullah said.

Talking about the attack on state installations post Imran Khan’s arrest in a press conference, Rana Sanaullah vowed that strict action will be taken against them. “We have recordings of their telephone calls, audios and videos … they were be identified that who is responsible for arson in which areas … we will present all this with evidence.”
