Judiciary needs to limit itself up to its obligations of interpretation of Constitution: Demands APC held under the auspices of ANP

ISLAMABAD, May 3 (SABAH): An all-parties conference (APC) held under the auspices of Awami National Party (ANP) has demanded that the judiciary needs to limit itself up to its obligations of interpretation of Constitution while remaining within its constitutional boundaries.

APC was held with Senior Vice President of ANP and Member National Assembly Ameer Haider Khan Hoti in the chair here on Wednesday. According to APC,” All the political parties should fix date for holding elections through the consultation and that the polls must be held on the same day. Political parties and Parliament are considered to be venues for making political decisions. Courts duty is to explain the Constitution while responsibility of legislation lies with the Parliament.”

According to APC, “Resettlement of terrorists as well as their release caused a new wave of terrorism. Those who didn’t act upon the agreed National Action Plan must be held accountable. The people did not show their confidence in all the army operations done in the past. Targeted and concerted action must be taken against the terrorists with the support of masses.”

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference after the APC, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has claimed that the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) blackmailed the Parliament on the occasion of approval of 18th Amendment for limiting its powers on the appointment of judges and forcefully 19 Constitutional Amendment was passed. He said that parliamentary and political parties should have resisted such an act.

More than 30 parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan, National Party (NP), Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party(PKMAP), Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) and others.

President Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Ameer JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman especially attended the APC.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had decided against attending APC for dialogue among political forces to tackle the ongoing constitutional and political turmoil in the country. Ameer Haider Khan Hoti maintained that the PTI’s representatives should have participated in the APC as it was held on important issues and added the APC portrayed harmony.
