Watchdog role of journalism has helped the ideas of democracy & transparent governance evolve: PM Shehbaz


ISLAMABAD, May 03 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that on the World Press Freedom Day, he pays glowing tributes to journalists across the world, particularly those in Pakistan for the commendable work they are doing to inform and educate the people.

In a statement issued on twitter on Wednesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the environment in which they work is often full of challenges and risks and yet they never falter in their responsibility.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the watchdog role of journalism has helped the ideas of democracy and transparent governance evolve.

Meanwhile in a separate tweet, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that he was leaving United Kingdom on Wednesday to represent Pakistan at the coronation ceremony of His Majesty King Charles III.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the UK-Pakistan relations are rooted in shared history and multifaceted bonds that have grown stronger over the decades. The British monarch and the royal family have been great friends of Pakistan, he said. “I will also use the opportunity to attend the Commonwealth leaders’ summit as well as engage with other world leaders bilaterally” PM Shehbaz Sharif said.
