Under new NAB ordinance president of the country had got powers to oust chairman NAB at any time: Shahid Khaqan
ISLAMABAD, Nov 02 (SABAH): Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi stated that under the new NAB ordinance president of the country had got the powers to oust chairman NAB at any time. He added that the lifetime appointment of chairman NAB could only be ended with president’s approval. Moreover, according to amended NAB ordinance, the incumbent government was not accountable to the NAB.
This was stated by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while talking to media persons after appearing before the accountability court in LNG case on Tuesday. He emphasized that masses be shown while installing TV cameras that where PML-N undertook corruption. The former premier noted that it should be mentioned in the law that NAB would only be used against PML-N and that their party would face the new ordinance and they were ready for that. He asked whether premier Imran Khan and Chairman NAB Javed Iqbal were also ready.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the corruption of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has continued to affect the people as it has entered in the houses of the masses. He said that Rs70 out of Rs120 per kg price of sugar is going into the pockets of PM Imran Khan and his ministers.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials and prosecutors will also be made accountable soon, he added. He said that only one ordinance is required for ending the exemption enjoyed by NAB chairman and investigation officers, adding that the ordinance could be issued in only 10 minutes. He said that whenever new government comes whether it comes in one month, one year or 10 years, the new government will end the exemption from 2000.
