Today country knows difference between a leader & jackal: Maryam

FAISALABAD, March 5 (SABAH): Leaders of the ruling coalition parties on Sunday reacted to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s possible arrest, stating that the former prime minister is afraid to get arrested”.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz took to Twitter to criticise Imran and said that “today the country knows the difference between a leader and a jackal”.

“Even if the lion is innocent, he holds his daughter’s hand and comes to Pakistan from London to give his arrest and if a jackal is a thief, he hides by making other people’s daughters a shield for fear of arrest!” she said. In another tweet, PML-N’s chief organiser asked the party supremo Nawaz Sharif to lend some of his courage to Imran.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the “day the government decides to arrest Imran, it will not be a difficult task to do so and he will be arrested within no time”

“If the government had wanted, he [Imran] could have been arrested during his appearance in the high court,” he added.

While talking to the media persons in Faisalabad, the federal minister maintained that the PTI chief is getting arrested on the court’s order and the government is not taking the initiative. Sanaullah also said that “conducting elections is the job of the Election Commission of Pakistan [ECP] but the current situation is in front of everyone”.

He furthered that such elections should be held after which the country moves towards improvement.”

Sanaullah claimed that “Imran’s story of an assassination attack on him is based on lies, he does not have anything else to say.”

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also lashed out at the PTI chief and said that the “‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ chief Imran Niazi is afraid to give his arrest even on court orders.”

“Those who preach the rule of law are today flouting court orders,” he added. The comments by the PDM leaders come as Islamabad police travelled to Lahore earlier in the day to arrest the PTI chief in relation to warrants issued in the Toshakhana (gift repository) case against him whereas the former premier was avoiding arrest.

SP City Rana Hussain Tahir went to the room in Imran’s Zaman Park residence where the PTI chairman was expected to be but he was not there when the police arrived.pti
