Govt trying to reduce the burden on people’s pockets with low-cost & environment-friendly electricity: PM Shehbaz
ISLAMABAD, Mar 01 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says the government is trying to reduce the burden on people’s pockets with low-cost and environment-friendly electricity.
PM Shehbaz Sharif was presiding over a meeting to review development regarding solarization of government buildings across the country in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister said we will not tolerate any obstacle in implementation of measures to reduce dependence on imported fuel.
He directed to install solar systems in government buildings in Islamabad within the next 7 weeks.
He further directed the authorities concerned to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.
The Prime Minister said that work on solarization of federal government buildings in other areas of the country should also be started immediately.
The meeting was informed that 496 government buildings in Islamabad, 340 in big cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Quetta and 1255 government buildings in other areas will be replaced with solar energy.
The meeting was informed that the installation of solar panels in government buildings in Islamabad will be done on emergency basis.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed to ease the process of CNIC and Passport acquisition for the citizens.
He was chairing an important meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday to facilitate the acquisition of ID cards and passports and other matters related to the NADRA.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed to set up Passport Office counters in NADRA and to share space and resources of NADRA and Directorate General of Immigration and Passports office keeping in view of austerity and savings to minimize the burden on national exchequer.
The Prime Minister further said that all the projects approved for the establishment of passport offices should be established in the existing offices of NADRA.
He directed to increase the number of mobile NADRA vans immediately to provide ID Card Service to the citizens at their doorstep.
The meeting was briefed that NADRA is going to launch a new mobile phone application for renewal of ID Cards.
