Transparent, free & fair elections were the solution to the problems: Sirajul Haq
LAHORE, Feb 18 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has linked the stability to the election and said the polls on national and provincial seats must be held across the country on one date.
Presiding over a meeting of the central leadership at Mansoorah on Saturday, Sirjaul Haq said the transparent, free and fair elections were the solution to the problems.
Sirajul Haq declared the ruling parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as the protectors of the status quo and said they never wanted change in the life of the poor.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the PTI, he said, gifted the people with inflation and unemployment. It was due to their flawed policies that the national economy was on the verge of collapse, he added.
Sirajul Haq said the rulers never paid attention to bringing reforms in the health and education sectors. Millions of children were out of schools due to poverty, and people lacked access to basic health facilities and even clean drinking water, he said.
The JI chief said that the rulers looted the resources and kept the people deprived of their basic rights. He said the PDM government made a full surrender before the IMF and asked the poor for sacrifices.
“We reject the mini-budget. We will take the masses to the streets against the anti-poor policies of the PDM government.”
The government of the 14 parties, Sirajul Haq said, wrote history with its bad governance and incompetence during the past few months. The JI, he said, will spread the ongoing movement against inflation in every nook and corner of the country. The poor people of Pakistan, he said, were no longer ready to be scapegoats for the protocols and pleasures of the rulers and IMF conditions.
The government, he said, targeted the poor people at the behest of the global lender. The ruling elite, he said, stashed their money in foreign accounts, but they always sought sacrifices from the public at times of difficulty.
