Attaching buildings can never hinder freedom movement: Mirwaiz
SRINAGAR, Jan 30 (SABAH): Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that Hurriyat is the manifestation of political, social and cultural desire of the people of Jammu and Kashmir’s aspirations for their political destiny.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in response to the attaching of APHC office by the Modi regime said, “Attaching buildings of stone and mortar will not scratch freedom sentiments from hearts and minds of the Kashmiri people. Whether it is the sponsored assaults on the office by paid goons or rent-a-crowd by vested interests, we are aware of the reality of such actions”.
Mirwaiz who continues to remain under house detention in Srinagar since August 2019 also slammed the Indian media for toeing the Modi government’s line on Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmiri people.
“In a lopsided court order, the Hurriyat office has been attached and in subsequent swift and dramatic action under media coverage notices put up on its walls, signaling some victory takeover,” the statement added.
He made it clear to “those in command and control of IIOJK should know that the sentiment and desire to see the resolution of the Kashmir conflict and to live in fearless peace is embedded in the hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”.
The senior APHC leader called upon rights organisations in India and outside to take serious note of the protracted detention of all leadership and activists in jails and under detention. He said that human rights activists, journalists, political activists, youth and thousands of other Kashmiris are languishing in prisons for their political beliefs, and sought intervention by the international community to impress upon India for their immediate release.
APHC-AJK chapter leaders Imtiaz Wani and Mushtaq Ahmad Butt in their separate statements in Islamabad also denounced the attachment of the APHC offices and termed it frustration of the authorities.
Pertinently, a Delhi Court had ordered the attachment of APHC Rajbagh office, following which the NIA sealed the office on Sunday.
