Hafiz Neemur Rehman calls on PML-N’s Provincial President Shah Muhammad Shah, requests him to work together


KARACHI, Jan 22 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami’s delegation under the leadership of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman called on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh President Shah Muhammad Shah at party’s secretariat on Sunday.

During the meeting, leaders from both sides discussed in detail to jointly work for the prosperity and development of the coastal city of Karachi. Hafiz Neemur Rehman requested Shah Muhammad Shah to work with all parties together for the solution of the problems of the Karachiites. Shah Muhammad Shah assured him that the local leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will contact with all the parties for bringing them on the same page.

Those who were participants included MNA Kheal Das Kohistani, Additional Secretary Sindh Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq and others. Jamaat-e-Islami’s delegation consisted of Naib Emirs Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Dr. Usama Razi and Muslim Pervaiz. 

After holding the meeting, while talking to media persons along with PML-N leaders, Hafiz Neemur Rehman said that they came to hold meeting with Shah Muhammad Shah at PML-N’s provincial secretariat and requested them to work together for the development and prosperity of the city. He said they also requested them to make contacts with all remaining parties for sorting out problems of the people of Karachi, expecting Shah to play his part for the betterment of the city.

He said that local government elections were conducted in uncertain conditions which was why all the parties were having reservations over the results of the elections; however, added at present all the parties need to work together for the betterment of the city. If the situation remains the same the way it became intense on the occasion of LB polls the problems of the city cannot be resolved, he warned.

He further said ahead of holding these elections, Jamaat-e-Islami made hectic effort for the powers of the city due to which they demands were met in the agreement struck between Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Neemur Rehman said that Karachi’s mayor will be from Jamaat-e-Islami; however, they have still not discussed the issue of mayorship with the PPP, adding that they will do this after decision on the six seats comes to fore. He said the result will define position of any party and it would be acceptable and continued they have requested in writing to the Election Commission for recounting and demanded the Commission to hold the recounting process in its own supervision, adding recounting through ROs and DROs was not acceptable at all.

PML-N provincial president Shah Muhammad Shah welcomed Hafiz Naeemur Rehman and other office-bearers at Sindh Secretariat and wished to work together for the betterment of the city. He further said that PML-N was the democratic party and relies on democracy and added Jamaat-e-Islami was worth appreciating as large number of Karachiites used their right to vote in its favour. He further said they respect the mandate of Jamaat-e-Islami and wanted to work together and continued that it was very organized party which already imparted in his training and will continue his training as well.
