Dr. Asad Majeed Khan posted as new Foreign Secretary of Pakistan  

ISLAMABAD, Dec 02, (SABAH): Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Belgium, the European Union and Luxemburg, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan has been posted as new Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.

According to the notification issued by the Government of Pakistan, Cabinet Secretariat, Establishment Division, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, a BS-22 officer of Foreign Service of Pakistan, presently posted as Ambassador in the Embassy of Pakistan, to Belgium, the European Union and Luxemburg, is transferred and posted as Foreign Affairs Division, with immediate effect and until further orders. The notification has been by Section officer, Muhammad Asadul Haq on Friday. The copy of the notification has been sent to all the concerned officials.

Meanwhile according to a statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch on twitter on Friday, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, presently posted as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, the European Union and Luxembourg has been appointed as the new Foreign Secretary.

It is worth mentioning here that the cypher waved by former prime minister Imran Khan telling the Pakistanis about the US conspiracy to topple his government was written by Dr. Asad Majeed Khan as Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States of America. Asad Majeed had written the cypher about his meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu.

It is worth mentioning here that Dr. Asad Majeed Khan is a career Pakistan Foreign Service Officer. He has been nominated as the 31st Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.

Dr. Asad Majeed Khan is Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union.

During his diplomatic career spanning over 34 years, Ambassador Khan has held several key diplomatic assignments. He served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Japan; Additional Foreign Secretary (Americas); Director General (Americas); Director General (West Asia); Pakistan’s Charge d’ Affaires ad interim to the United States; Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Pakistan, Washington D.C.; Additional Secretary (Foreign Affairs) at the President’s Secretariat; Director General (United Nations); and Minister-Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations.

Dr. Asad Majeed Khan holds a Doctorate in International Economic and Business Law (LL.D.) from Kyushu University, Japan and has been a resource person at a number of academic institutions. He is married and has two children.
