Watch laid bare worth of ex-PM Imran Khan: Marriyum Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD, Nov 18 (SABAH): Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, during her press conference in Islamabad on Friday, said the government has understood  former prime minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s intentions, however, it failed to understand the agenda behind PTI’s long march.

“He talks about getting the medicolegal done from a private hospital. He talks about a first information report [FIR] of his choice,” Marriyum Aurangzeb said, asking Imran Khan to bring an amendment to the law and give everyone the right to do that.

The information minister criticised the PTI chief for dissolving the assembly and violating the Constitution. “This person has violated the Supreme Court’s order. He has violated the Constitution, not only in the federation but also in Punjab,” she said.

Marriyum Aurangzeb further added that Khan talks about setting the country on fire and directs his party’s members to play with the cypher — an alleged threat letter sent by the United States that the PTI chief claimed played a role in his ouster in April this year.

Speaking about PTI chief Imran Khan’s offer to the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa regarding a lifetime extension to his tenure, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the army chief did not pay heed to his request on the day of the vote of no-confidence.

[He] offered a lifetime extension to the army chief fearing the success of the no-confidence motion, she added. The minister said that the no-confidence motion was successful for the first time in Pakistan’s history. She added that Khan deemed the vote of no-confidence a US-backed conspiracy and has now taken a U-turn on his narrative.

Marriyum Aurangzeb deemed PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s long march as work from home, demanding him to provide receipts regarding the sale of Toshakhana gifts, including a Graff wristwatch worth at least Rs2 billion. The information minister said: “Imran Khan sahib, you will have to answer. Why are you going to the courts in the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom? You are doing work from home, show receipts to the public.”

The minister added that in every country that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited, he heard disgusting stories about Khan. “Khan is an imposter. It’s been six years and you don’t appear in the court,” Aurangzeb said, adding that it has been confirmed from the PTI chief’s address that a bullet hasn’t hit him.
