We need a Pakistan as per dream of Allama Iqbal: Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui

KARACHI, Nov 09 (SABAH): Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and noted neurophysician of the country Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui has said that we need a Pakistan that was dreamt by Allama Iqbal.

She said that on the occasion of world Independence Day and Iqbal Day she wants to ask is there a real independence? She asked has our political leadership built Pakistan as per the dream of Allama Iqbal. She said making Pakistan as per the dreams and aspirations of our founding fathers is sadly not included in the agenda of our politicians. Now the masses would have to work for this cause, she said while addressing to a protest demo demanding release of Pakistani woman scientist Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.

On the occasion, female volunteers of Aafia Movement Pakistan and civil society members stood behind symbolic prison bars to record their protest. They included Dr. Azra Khan, Nargis Khan, Bakhtawar Gul, Munawara Bibi, Gulnar and others.

Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui said the world independence day is being observed to mark the anniversary of the fall of Berlin Wall. However, the people who razed a concrete wall have erected a more dangerous and dreadful wall: the wall of injustice. She said it is time that this wall should also be razed.

She said one should ask from Aafia Siddiqui and millions of people of Kashmir, Palestine and Syria: what independence is. She regretted that the politicians have ruined Pakistan for the vested interests instead of building it as per the dream of Iqbal. She said today on the occasion of world Independence Day and Allama Iqbal day 7164 days have already passed to the illegal imprisonment of Dr. Aafia. However, the government, opposition and the institutions are the least concerned, as the elite class has no sympathy for Dr. Aafia.
