Samina Alvi calls upon all educational, medical institutes & media to join hands for spreading maximum awareness regarding breast cancer
ISLAMABAD, Dec 02 (SABAH): First Lady Begum Samina Alvi says a national database registry of breast cancer cases will be completed soon by the Ministry of National Health Services for effective tackling of the disease.
She was addressing a breast cancer awareness seminar in Islamabad on Thursday. Begum Samina Alvi called upon all educational and medical institutes as well as media to join hands with the government for spreading maximum awareness regarding breast cancer as Pakistan has highest fatality rate due to the disease in Asia.
The First Lady asked the medical institutes to offer free screening facilities time and again for women who cannot afford it.
She also urged women to do self- examination and consult doctors at the earliest as early diagnosis offers complete recovery from the disease.
Earlier, medical experts gave a detailed briefing regarding the disease and stressed for its early diagnosis for better treatment and recovery.
