Govt is failing, incompetent & unreliable on every front: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, Dec 02 (SABAH): Liaqat Baloch, Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, President of the Standing Committee on Political, Electoral and National Affairs, while talking to a delegation of political and social activists, said that Pakistan has a constitution, democratic electoral process, parliament, judiciary and administration, but the colonial mentality and authoritarian feudal style of politics and governance is a major obstacle to development and stability. People who love the goals of democracy, Islam and the establishment of Pakistan must strengthen their vote by recognizing right and wrong.

Liaqat Baloch said that by dividing the people into communities, factions and interest groups, they have inflicted punishment on the people. Jamaat-e-Islami is the vanguard to solve problems faced by people in Karachi, Gwadar and all over the country. Let the people support Jamaat-e-Islami and save the country and the nation from crises and economic and financial problems. The former ruling parties have disappointed the people even after being in opposition after the government. The government is failing, incompetent and unreliable on every front.

Liaqat Baloch was contacted by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on telephone and discussed the situation of ongoing sit-in in Gwadar (Balochistan) led by Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman and said that Balochistan government is ready to solve people’s problems. Liaqat Baloch spoke to Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman on the phone. Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman clarified that if the Chief Minister of Balochistan had visited the participants of Gwadar sit-in after his visit to Turbat, the problems would have been solved. Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani assured that the government delegation would visit the participants of the sit-in and steps would be taken to resolve public issues. Liaqat Baloch clarified that the government should not waste time, but to solve problems instead of deceiving the people.

Liaqat Baloch said that the federal and provincial governments were showing extreme non-seriousness towards electoral reforms and local body elections. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI government is undermining the local body elections. The Sindh government is bent on making the local bodies inanimate and soulless, while the Punjab government is playing a dirty game by making changes to the local bodies system through new legislation one after another. All these tactics are aimed at undermining local bodies and postponing elections. Empowered local government system and transparent and fair elections are essential for the development and stability of the country.
