PM Shehbaz decides to constitute judicial commission headed by high court judge to probe into killing of journalist Arshad Sharif


ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has decided to constitute a judicial commission to probe into the killing of senior journalist and anchorperson Arshad Sharif.          

 In a statement issued on twitter on Tuesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that he has decided to form a Judicial Commission to hold an inquiry into the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif in order to determine the facts of the tragic incident in a transparent and conclusive manner.

Meanwhile in a video statement, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the killing of Arshad Sharif in Kenya is highly condemnable, adding that the Pakistani masses are grieved on the death of Arshad Sharif. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that he talked with Kenyan president on Monday and requested him to send the investigation report regarding the death of Arshad Sahrif to Pakistan immediately and also play his role in transporting the dead body of Arshad Sharif to Pakistan. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the Kenyan president assured him of leaving no stone unturned in this matter, adding that the Kenyan president also expressed sympathies with him on this incident.

Meanwhile in a statement on Tuesday, Minister for Information Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said the commission will be headed by a judge of high court. She said the commission will be empowered to include members from civil society and media to determine facts.                       

Marriyum Aurangzeb said the Prime Minister has taken this decision to ascertain the reality of late Arshad Sharif’s death.

Furthermore, the sources revealed that the Prime Minister has also issued instructions to the relevant authorities in this regard. It has been said that people who are trusted by Arshad Sharif’s family should be included in the commission. The commission will be constituted in next few days.
