IHC accepts application of Akbar S. Babar to be made party in PTI’s writ petition challenging ECP Order in foreign funding case
ISLAMABAD, Oct 15 (SABAH): The larger bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) has accepted the application of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding member Akbar S. Babar to be made party in PTI’s writ petition challenging the ECP Order of August 2, 2022 that documented major violations of the Political Funding laws by PTI.
The PTI while challenging the ECP Order had not made Akbar S. Babar a Respondent to the case.
The short order by the larger bench of IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Babar Sattar states that “the referred facts make the applicant (Akbar S. Babar) a proper party to the present case as he has participated in the proceedings all along and he has been impleaded in various rounds of the litigation, and there is no justification or basis to exclude him at this stage.”
Additional Secretary General of PTI Omar Ayub Khan had filed petition in IHC requesting the court to not make Akbar Sher Babar party in the foreign funding case. The court has rejected the petition filed by Omar Ayub Khan.
