Federal & provincial govts as well as Pakistan Army working jointly to compensate the flood affectees & rehabilitate them: PM Shehbaz


RAWALPINDI, Sep 17 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has appealed the philanthropists and affluent people to come forward and help the flood victims, especially in Sindh and Balochistan. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that federal and provincial governments as well as Pakistan Army are working jointly to compensate the affectees and rehabilitate them. He said that federation and provinces jointly will ensure the rehabilitation of flood affectees.

Addressing a meeting at Noor Khan Airbase Rawapindi before his departure to United Kingdom on Saturday, PM Shehbaz Sharif said maximum food packs should be sent to the flood hit areas in Balochistan and Sindh to meet the food requirement of the newly born babies. The address of the PM Shehbaz Sharif was aired on PTV.

The Prime Minister said the philanthropists can send their relief items through any channel, including NGOs, Army Relief Centers or any other organization. He said the flood victims also in need of warm clothes, quilts, blankets and beds.

The Prime Minister said during his meetings with various heads of states on the sidelines of SCO summit in Samarqand, he informed them about the flood relief activities being carried out by the government with its limited resources. PM said that he informed the international leaders instead of our meager financial resources we have provided considerable help to the flood affectees, adding that Rs 25,000 per family has been distributed among the flood affectees. He said that Rs 30 billion have been distributed in transparent in the flood affectees. He said that this financial support has been provided to the flood affectees through internationally recognized Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

Shehbaz Sharif said the government is carrying out a joint survey to assess the losses caused by the recent floods.
