Imran Khan’s fake revolution couldn’t run more than two months: Maryam Nawaz

ISLAMABAD, Sep 15 (SABAH): Vice President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has  said if Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister Imran Khan wants the date of election [to be announced]  then he should go for dissolving Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.

Maryam Nawaz said this while talking to media persons after the hearing of Avenfield reference on Thursday. Minister of State for Petroleum Senator Dr. Musaddaq Masood Malik, former minister for information and broadcasting Parvez Rashid, MNA Zeb Jaffar, MPAs

Ms Hina Pervaiz Butt, Ms Sania Ashiq Jabeen, PML-N leader Bilal Azhar Kayani and other were also present on the occasion.

Maryam Nawaz said that Imran Khan’s fake revolution couldn’t run more than two months and now he is once again roaming about while taking his CV in search for crutches.  She suggested the government not to listen to Imran Khan either it is related to his quest of holding elections or any other matter, though he does so through using pressure, adding that the former prime minister should not be considered as stakeholder.

She said that Imran Khan was only dangerous for the country; however, he was not dangerous for his opponents and continued if those people who have tender corner for Imran Khan, leave theirs this way then all matters related to him [Khan] in not more than three days time.

She further added that if Imran Khan no longer remained the blue-eyed of certain quarters then sorting him out is not a matter beyond three days. Maryam Nawaz termed Imran Khan mentally challenged person and further said that elections should be held after five years in timely manner. Possibly elections will be held on time, she guessed. Maryam added that elections should be on their time and no ‘foreign funder’ has the power to dictate.

To a question, she said that economy of the country was badly damaged that it needs few years for its revival, adding this is not possible in a few months.

Moreover, she said this is not the government which announces decision on the basis of taking diamond rings as bribe or it needs bribe for signing documents or for taking land, and added this the government which is working day and night. She said this government took tough decisions either she was in favour of such decisions or not.

She went on to say it is a truth that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif saved the country from default and expressed her optimism that now economy will start to revive slowly and steadily. She also expressed concerns over the rise in electricity bills and requested the government to show some leniency towards people.

She further said when it come to the issue of raising prices of oil or electricity, she does not support this because of the preference she gives to the masses, adding “Even it is about government of my own party or a collation government, I don’t own such decision; however, I understand that the way Imran Khan destroyed economy of the country, its revival will take time. I will request the government to focus on it.”

She also addressed a question regarding missing persons and said she was glad that PM Shehbaz had taken up the case of missing journalist Mudassar Naaru. “I’m hopeful he will be successful in pulling a breakthrough [in the matter],” she added.

“Religion is a personal matter, but if you say voting for PML-N and not voting for PTI is a sin, then you are using religion for your dirty politics,” She said and asked Imran not to use religion as it “hurts the sentiments of millions of Muslims”.

“Using religion for your personal motives is very bad. I have suffered this and am a victim. Ahsan Iqbal received a bullet and they flung mud at Nawaz Sharif as well. Imran used to frequent rallies and sit-ins where the above were accused of disrespecting religion,” she alleged.

Maryam further claimed that the PTI had run its by-election campaign in Lahore’s NA-120 in 2017 “on the basis of religion.”

“The party they used for religion and whose rallies they attended, they themselves shot at when their own government came [to power],” she added.

“I think religion is a personal matter … but it does not remain a personal matter when you say in rallies that voting for PML-N is a sin and voting for me (Imran) is righteous and if my party members switch loyalties then it’s shirk.

Maryam Nawaz came down hard on Imran Khan for what she said was his changing definitions of religious terminologies. Shirk’s definition is associating partners with God. Are you changing the entire dictionary and the meaning of religion for your disgusting politics?

“If this is shirk, according to you, then you are the biggest committer because you admitted in TV interviews that I [Imran] used the establishment to bring people in my government for voting,” she said.

She also mentioned other examples of Imran Khan allegedly invoking religion during political rallies and said it was a matter of concern for her as a mother because of the message that was being sent to the youth.

She said, “My problem, as a mother, is you don’t use the name of religion and don’t try to pervert people’s religious beliefs because you should speak responsibly when you speak on a mic.”

Carrying on with the criticism she said before stepping down from government Imran Khan violated the IMF agreement and no Pakistani is safe from his evil intentions.

She said that Shehbaz Sharif is busy helping flood victims away from politics, while the PTI Chairman visits flood affectees for photo session.

Earlier on Thursday, Islamabad High Court (IHC) conducted hearing of the petition filed by Maryam Nawaz against conviction in the Avenfield reference.

During the hearing, lawyer Muhammad Amjad Parvez argued that the decision of the case rests on the report of Robert William Radley and the expert’s report can be secondary evidence, not primary.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked that the court will look at the matter from the case of Calibri font. The court directed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to present arguments at the next hearing and adjourned the case till September 20.
