Jamaat-e-Islami & Alkhidmat intensify efforts for helping out floods victims


KARACHI, August 25 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat have intensified efforts in Sindh and Balochistan to help out the people affected by the heavy rains and the floods.

While talking to media persons on Thursday, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the people should actively participate in the relief activities. He appealed to the masses to come forward for helping out the people whose houses and properties got damaged in the heavy rains and the floods.

He said that the government of Sindh is waiting for the international community to come forward to help out the people devastated by the heavy rains and floods. The government will receive funds in this regard but it will not use them on the people as it did in case of Covid-19, he deplored.

He further said that the Chief Minister along with his team visited only those areas which were not in danger and found to be safe, adding the nation is asking the rulers that where billions of rupees were consumed.

He further said that the government of Sindh should have taken steps ahead of such floods but it showed negligence in this regard. Due to incapability of the government of Sindh, water is still standing in the cities and the villages, he added.

He also inaugurated Alkhidmat camp for assisting the homeless at the New MA Jinnah road. Chief Executive Alkhidmat Karachi Naveed Ali Baig also spoke on the occasion.

Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi Rashid Qureshi, Secretary Information Zahid Askari and others were also present on the occasion.

Naveed Ali Baig said that rains have been underway for over two months in Karachi and the other parts of the country. Alkhidmat from day one had started its activities to help out the people affected by the heavy rains and floods.
