Count people where they live as Karachi won’t accept injustice anymore, warns JI
KARACHI, August 15 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has once again warned the government that 30 million Karachiites would not accept any ambush on their due share in resources so it will have to conduct the fresh census under internationally acclaimed de-facto formula.
Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing a corner meeting in Karachi’s Safora Goth area, during the ongoing election campaign. Count people where they do live, he said while demanding the government to count each and every resident of Karachi.
He also demanded of the government to grant due share of representation to Karachi in the provincial and national legislature as per the actual population of the mega city. He added that similarly the megalopolis should be granted with due share in all available resources.
Talking about the Karachi Rights Movement, he said it is not the JI’s campaign but it belongs to each and every resident of Karachi, no matter what his cast, creed, color or political beliefs are. He added that Karachiites will have their due rights when they mega city is bestowed an empowered local government setup.
Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman appealed Karachiites to vote for scale — the electoral symbol of the JI — on August 28, and said that the JI’s victory in local bodies elections will assure the progress and development of Karachi. He further said that the journey of development would be resumed from the same point, it had been detached some 17 years ago at the culmination of the then city mayor Nematullah Khan’s tenure.
The JI leader strongly lambasted the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the Pakistan People Party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for betraying Karachi and Karachiites despite enjoying all perks and privileges as well as monetary benefits for their leaders and their kin.
He said that Karachi has been showing a miserable condition for the past many decades. The public sector education system has collapsed and the JI, if elected, will restore the prestige of the public sector schools.
Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the same trembling state of affairs can be witnessed in all other sectors. The infrastructure has become depilated, roads are broken and respected women of the society, particularly belonging to the working class have no other option but to travel in rickshaws. Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman asked the masses to vote for Jamaat-e-Islami as the party mayor would not be crying for powers and ensure delivering for masses beyond his mandate.
