There was no policy under consideration, at any level, to allow screening of Indian films in Pakistan: Muhammed Tahir Hassan


ISLAMABAD, August 14 (SABAH): Chairman Central Board of Film Censor (CBFC) Muhammed Tahir Hassan categorically said that there was no policy under consideration, at any level, to allow screening of Indian films in Pakistan.

Muhammed Tahir Hassan, in a press statement, strongly rebutted a news item appearing in certain sections of media in this regard which had reported that arrangements were being made to allow screening of the Indian movie “Lal Singh Chadha”.

Strongly rebutting the news items being circulated on different social media platforms, MuhammedTahir Hassan further termed these reports as baseless and far from reality.

It is worth mentioning here that Muhammed Tahir Hassan hails from Faisalabad, a Civil Servant from Information Group. Currently, serving as Chairman, Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC), Government of Pakistan.

He has previously served as Secretary, Department of Information & Public Relations, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP), Principal Information Officer (PIO) Press Information Department (PID), Director General, Directorate of Electronic Media & Publications (DEMP), Director Secretary’s office, Information and Broadcasting Division, Director Secretary to the President of Pakistan, Aiwan-e-Sadar( Public Secretariat), Executive Director Associated Press of Pakistan( APP ), Second Secretary, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Assistant Commissioner Income Taxand many other important assignments. He holds MSc, MBA & LLB degrees. Before assuming charge of Chairman, he has served as member on the Central Board of Film Censors, Government of Pakistan, as well.

It is worth mentioning here that the Central Board of Film Censors (abbreviated as CBFC) is a film censorship board and rating system body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting tasked with regulating the public screening of films under the provisions of the Motion Picture Ordinance, 1979.
