We will not tolerate the injustice anymore & masses should be ready to go to Islamabad: Sirajul Haq

PESHAWAR, August 12 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that the government robs the pockets of the poor people everyday and a bill of Rs.7,000 is sent to the person who consumed 34 units only; whereas, GST, Income Tax, Fuel Adjustment Surcharge and other charges are added to electricity bills. He wondered that TV taxes were also included into electricity bills of mosques and asked as to why should a laborer, the rickshaw driver and the poor farmer pay the bills of government bungalows and the rest houses. “The fight of PDM and PTI is based on vested interests; whereas, Jamaat-e-Islami is fighting for the rights of the people. They will challenge the process of robbing the poor in the form of electricity bills in court, they can’t bear the injustice anymore and people should be ready to go to Islamabad”, he noted. Sirajul Haq said that we will not tolerate the injustice anymore and masses should be ready to go to Islamabad.

Sirajul Haq expressed these views while addressing the main demonstration held in Peshawar’s Qissa Khwani Bazaar at the beginning of the protest movement against expensive electricity. On the appeal of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami, demonstrations were held across the country on Friday against inflation and the deliberate increase in electricity prices. A large number of people from different walks of life participated in the protests.

Thousands of people, including traders, shopkeepers, laborers, participated in the demonstration in Peshawar’s Qissa Khwani Bazaar and raised slogans of “electricity bill na-manzoor, IMF government na-manzoor “. Member National Assembly Abdul Akbar Chitrali, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami District Peshawar Atiqur Rahman and other leaders were also present on the occasion. In the next phase of the protest movement, Jamaat-e-Islami will hold a demonstration in Islamabad on August 15 and the LESCO Headquarters in Lahore will be surrounded on August 17. Addressing the protestors, Sirajul Haq clarified that if the government says that electricity is expensive due to expensive contracts with IPPs, then those people who made expensive contracts should be arrested; the poor people are not in a position to suffer the punishment of the rulers’ cruelty.

He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produced 20 billion units of cheap electricity while 12 billion units are needed. The cost per unit of electricity generation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is 87 paisa, while bills are sent to the public at the rate of 20 rupees per unit. He added if the tyrannical rulers cannot give anything to the people, at least they should not take away what is left with the people due to the cruel inflation and unemployment. “PTI has been in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for nine years and in all this time incompetent and incompetent rulers have not taken a single step for the betterment of the people. PDM government made lofty claims to alleviate the economic woes, but its measures have made it impossible for the people to both live and die”, he underlined.

Sirajul Haq stated that they were only left with the only option of Islamic revolution and that only JI could bring the most awaited realistic change. He called the incumbent government the root cause of all evils and added that unless and until they got rid of landlords, vaders, and mafias, the worries of the masses will not decrease. He pleaded that the nation should reject the tried landlords, vaders and corrupt capitalists and bring qualified and honest people forward so that the foundation of a corruption-free Islamic Pakistan can be laid because the country will move forward only with the supremacy of the constitution and law. Sirajul Haq said that at present there is great fear in Malakand Division and target killing is happening across the province and the situation is worse in Swat, the home of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan. He also discussed about a video from Swat where military personnel and a Police DSP are shown with their hands ties with ropes.

“Jamaat-e-Islami believes that if this is true, then it is oppression and if it is a conspiracy, we reject it and Prime Minister and Chief Minister should answer to the nation or resign” the JI Supremo Sirajul Haq added. He further stated that Chairman PTI Imran Khan had chosen Lahore’s hockey ground to deliver his so-called freedom message and he is not even visiting the province where his party has been in power for years and where there are serious problems of unrest and security. “I would like to ask him what steps his party has taken so far to free the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from oppression. He made it clear to the rulers that the people of Malakand and tribal areas are no longer ready to become IDPs, earlier they were evicted from their homes and dollars were taken from the US and the West, the nation has awakened and is not ready to become scapegoat for the rulers”, he lambasted.
