Using EVMs in elections has now become a law passed by the Parliament: Fawad
ISLAMABAD, Nov 22 (SABAH): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to move forward on the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in elections and enable overseas Pakistanis to exercise their right to vote.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Monday evening, he said using EVMs in elections has now become a law passed by the Parliament. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has also directed the Interior Minister to ease the process of acquisition of passport to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis to participate in the polling process.
The Minister said IMF program has also been approved and help stabilize Pakistan’s economy.
Talking about the political situation in the country, he said it seems strange that a doctored video or an audio of judges emerges whenever hearing of cases against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz is fixed in courts. He said the Sharif family has failed to provide money trail of its assets in abroad.
