Teachers are torchbearers in world of knowledge: Arooj Saqib Malik

ISLAMABAD, July 24 (SABAH): Sara’s Wisdom Garden paved a new direction for all of its faculty members before the start of the year’s new session.

It organised a four day mentoring workshop conducted by the very talented and well versed Arooj Saqib Malik, the CEO of the Training Institute for mentors excellence, a profound author, an educational consultant and a women rights activist. The main of the workshop was to accelerate the personal and professional development of the teachers and other staff members.

Sarah’s Wisdom Garden believes that the teachers are the torch bearers in the world of knowledge and a valuable asset of the modern world. The four day workshop tested the teachers’ creativity and imagination skills, the way different teachers perceived different aspects of life related to their profession.

Arooj Saqib highlighted early childhood development on the first day. It focused on the effects of neglection and rejection on a child and on the parent-child relationship, it focused on the attachment and about responsible care giving.

The second day was about positive and negative energy and how it affects on your personality and your profession. The teachers are the powerhouses of the institution and they should know how to exert good control over the children. There is either good control or no control at all. The way children are treated at home has a significant impact on their personalities and attitude. The facilitator stressed on how important is it to NOT make any child fear you.

The third day focus was on activities for the teachers which showcased that in every adult dwells a child and in every child, there is an adult you are shaping and constructing through your parenting and teaching methods. Playtime is an essential time to observe and analyse students. Different children have different personalities so some would indulge in constructive playtime and others in outdoor play.

The last day addressed how the teachers can improve their observation skills to analyse the students for report writing. Both parents and teachers play a momentous role in children’s learning, development and well being, and that the children generally do better when there are better connections between the various spaces they learn in.

The workshop was a success and gave teachers a wider insight to effective teaching methods. It was truly a learning experience for all of the staff members who were happy to receive this opportunity to learn and reflect on themselves and getting adequate knowledge about how to improve themselves.
