Electricity, gas & petrol prices beyond reach of layman: Sirajul Haq

LAHORE, July 8 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq has said that electricity, gas and petrol prices have now gone beyond the reach of a layman.

He said this while addressing a political gathering on Friday held in connection with by-elections going to be held in the offing in PP-170 where candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami Waqas Butt is taking part in the by-elections.

On one side there is inflation while on the other side there are unemployment and poverty, he said, while at the same time load-shedding has made the lives of people unbearable. Millions of people are passing through difficult times, he said, edibles are being sold at sky-rocketing prices.

There is increase in the number of psychological patients and everyday suicides are taking place in the country, he said, those who squeezed blood of people will be held accountable. He said that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) held demonstrations against inflation during the previous regime of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) while the situation got further exacerbated during the incumbent government.

The country faced more destruction during these three months in comparison with the destruction of three years of former government of PTI, he said; hence proved that current as well as the previous rulers were incapable of governing the country. This ruling class is responsible for all the mess the country is in, he added.

The PML-N, the PPP and the PTI are the clubs of feudal lords and corrupt imperialists, he pointed out as they did nothing for the good of the people, he said, adding that national economy is on the verge of collapse due to ill-planning, corruption and bad-governance.

Interest-based economy was the main reason behind the problems, he pointed out.

Appealing the voters of the PP-170 to vote for Jamaat-e-Islami candidate in by-poll on July 17, he said if the people wanted to get rid of the status quo, they must choose capable and honest leadership.

“Do not fall into the trap of tested parties again,” he said, adding the situation would never change if the people do not take stand for their rights. He said the rulers are the agents of Western powers, working on the agenda of those who had always hatched conspiracies to weaken the only atomic power in Muslim World.

Meanwhile, Sirajul Haq said that Indian occupation forces martyred Burhan Wani this day in 2016, but his heroic struggle against ruthless and illegal occupation continues to inspire the Kashmiri youth. Indian forces can never extinguish flame of freedom he ignited in the hearts & minds of the people of Kashmir.
