LHC gives one day to AG Punjab for seeking instructions on plea against Hamza’s election as Punjab CM


LAHORE, June 28 (SABAH): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday granted more time to Advocate General of Punjab and adjourned the hearing till Wednesday on plea against Hamza Shahbaz’s election as Punjab Chief Minister.

During the hearing, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan remarked that the court will announce its verdict without any pressure and granted one day to AGP to brief Chief Minister of Punjab and tell the court how soon Punjab Assembly session can be summoned.

The court asked how a political crisis would be avoided if matters are taken back to the Punjab Assembly session on April 16 and polls are held again.

In this case, the same presiding officer will hold the polls who was on duty during the April 16 polling,” the court said.

Meanwhile, PTI s counsel maintained that the party has also challenged the election held with Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari.

However, the court remarked that the order of the LHC is available and it has not been challenged.

The court allowing  the request of AG Punjab Shahzad Shaukat has given on day time for seeking instructions from government has adjourned hearing till today (Wednesday) at 10-AM.
