Coalition partners decide to complete the tenure of govt: PM Shehbaz


ISLAMABAD, June 23 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that the coalition partners have decided to complete the tenure of government, adding that 14 months are remaining in competition of the tenure of government and we will use the complete term. PM said that we will more forward with hard work and honesty. Shehbaz Sharif said that our conditions regarding agreement with International Monitory Fund (IMF) have almost been settled and if no more condition is set then the agreement with IMF will be reached in next few days. Shehbaz Sharif has also announced to address the nation again in next few days.

While addressing the PML-N Senators, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the previous government had agreed with the IMF that the oil and gas prices at international markets will be passed on to the masses. He said that the previous government had also accepted the condition of IMF regarding increase of petroleum development levy by Rs 30 per liter and also accepted the IMF condition of imposing 17 percent General Sales Tax (GST) on petroleum products but later on the PTI government violated the agreement signed with IMF. He said that when the prices of petroleum products and gas were touching the sky in March at the international market, Imran Khan decreased the prices. He said that Imran Khan decreased the oil prices when was sure of facing defeat in for of no-confidence motion against him, adding that no budget was allocated for this purpose and cabinet also did not approve this decision of Imran Khan. He said that Imran Khan installed the landmine for new government.

He said that two days ago China has approved loan of $2.3 billion for Pakistan, adding that it is loan not a grant. He said that Pakistan is facing severe problems and instead of passing 75 years we are roaming with the begging bowl.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the leaders of the coalition parties including Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif took the decision to increase the prices of petroleum products with heavy heart as the state is first and politics is after it. He said that the previous government was even not under-19 team but under-12 team and it wasted the time and resources of the nation. Shehbaz Sharif said that the IMF was saying it has not confidence in Pakistan and first all the clauses of the agreement singed by Imran Khan’s government should be implemented first. Shehbaz Sharif said that PTI signed the agreement with IMF if it had not intension of implementing it. Shehbaz Sharif said that still difficulties will have to be faced by the nation, adding that he will not lie with the nation.

Shehbaz Sharif said that we will not claim to bring back $300 billon, eradicate corruption in 90 days and make new Pakistan, adding that if we will move towards Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinna’s Pakistan it would be our great success. Shehbaz Sharif said that we have to keep ourselves above from personal likes and dislikes. He said that the government has announced Rs 2000 monthly for the poor people in the budget for provision of relief, adding that we will take more steps for provision of the relief to the common man. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that first time in the history of the country the government has imposed tax on the net income of millionaires and billionaires.

Shehbaz Sharif said that previous government ended the program started by Mian Nawaz Sharif regarding provision of free medicines and treatment in hospitals and laptops to students. He said that when coronavirus came the laptop become the source of securing education and earning the livelihood. He said that the previous government did not provide relief of a single penny to the common man in three and half years, adding that instead of provision of 10 million jobs, hundreds and thousands of people become jobless during the tenure of previous government. He said that not a single brick was installed by the previous government regarding provision of 5 million homes to masses. He said that the previous government harmed the relations with China, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and United Arab Emirates (UAE), adding that the nations are not formed in this way. Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed government’s stance of restoring the cordial relationship with China, brother Islamic countries and global institutions.

He said that the nations are formed through hard work and shedding the sweat and blood, adding that he is ready to form the nation along with coalition partners, institutions, parliament, administration and other institutions.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that electricity load shedding still persist but we will overcome it. He said that PTI government committed blunders resulting in harming the economy of the country greatly. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that it is also expected that Saudi Arabia will support Pakistan. PM said that we have to make decision regarding changing the fate of the country.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed to prepare practical proposals for the development of the mining sector in the country. He was talking to a delegation of All Pakistan Mines and Minerals Association in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Prime Minister directed to make full use of the coal in Thar and Lakhra as well as the iron ore discovered at Mianwali and Chiniot. During the meeting, different proposals were discussed for harnessing high quality coal, iron ore and other precious minerals.

The Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to utilize modern technology so that the country’s valuable foreign exchange could be saved by locally producing maximum share of raw materials, which is used in power generation and other industries.
