Govt has made Electronic Voting Machine disputed even prior to its use: Liaquat Baloch


LAHORE, Nov 18 (SABAH): Deputy Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former Parliamentary Leader in National Assembly Liaqat Baloch  congratulating Islami Jamiat Talba for organizing historic “Student Rights Convention” in Islamabad while representing the students of whole country, said that sophisticated, peaceful and elegant protest and gathering has further increased the respect and dignity of the students. He said that the government has made Electronic Voting Machine disputed even prior to its use.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Liaqat Baloch said that government should show seriousness for resolving the problems of the students. He said that the government should start result oriented negotiations with the leadership of the students. He said that the student unions should be restored, adding that the federal and provincial governments should give priority to the education in the budget. He said that the discrepancy between the unaffordable fees of private and government educational institutions should be ended.

Liaqat Baloch said that male and female students are the future of the country, adding that the national leadership should not ignore the new generation. He said that the new generation should not be left on the mercy of the circumstances and enemies.

Liaqat Baloch said that the parliamentary, democratic, political and masses satisfaction is required regarding any legislation, adding that difference of opinion is the right of the opposition but the governments always face humiliation after bulldozing the legislation. He said that the electoral reforms are not property of any single party or group. He said that brining all the stakeholders on the same page is the responsibility of government and Election Commission. He said that the government has made Electronic Voting Machine disputed even prior to its use. He said that the law passed with simple majority could not supersede the constitution. He said that ensuring the secrecy of the vote is constitutional obligation. He said that the rulers should change themselves as the situation will not change while only changing the laws.

Liaqat Baloch said that Jamaat-e-Islami has started the preparations for local government and general elections, adding that JI is enthusiastically participating in phase of local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that today (Friday) in Dera Ghazi Khan and in Multan Divisions, tomorrow (Saturday) in Bahawalpur Division and on 21st November the electoral conventions will be held in districts of Sahiwal and Lahore Divisions.
