60 wheelchairs distributed among deserving persons of Okara under Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan


LAHORE, June 15 (SABAH): 60 wheelchairs were distributed among the deserving and needy people of Okara under the auspices of the social-welfare services department of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan.

During his address to a ceremony held thereof, Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Dr. Mushtaq Mangat commented that availability of wheelchairs provided ease to the disabled persons in movement through which they could play an effective role in the society. He added that ease in mobility created a spirit to do something and lowered the sense of deprivation among the disabled. “According to an estimation, there are 3.2 million disabled people in Pakistan, majority of whom belongs to backward areas, who are deprived of facilities like basic healthcare and wheelchairs”, he highlighted.

Dr.  Mushtaq Mangat underlined that Alkhidmat Foundation distributes thousands of wheelchairs annually to alleviate sufferings of such people under its social welfare program and more than 25 thousand disabled persons had benefited so far.

Those who attended the event included Alkhidmat office-bearers, volunteers and a large number of people belonging to different walks of life. The participants hailed the ongoing endeavors of Alkhidmat Foundation to the deserving people of the society.
