We want electoral reforms instead of long marches & sit-ins: Sirajul Haq

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that we want electoral reforms instead of long marches and sit-ins. He said that all stakeholders should be included in the process of carrying out electoral reforms, adding that current government could not work like the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. He said that the masses should be given chance of fresh mandate. Sirajul Haq said that Imran Khan talked about the American conspiracy the day when no-confidence motion process was started against him, adding that Imran Khan has not sent letter or photo copy of the letter that what it is in the letter?

This was stated by Emir JI Pakistan Sirajul Haq in an interview with a private TV channel. Sirajul Haq said that if Imran Khan wants he could send the letter to us and we will read this letter and if there is something in the letter, which is claimed by him then we will condemn it, oppose it and reject it and we will not waste a moment in doing so, but so far it is his letter and his pocket. Sirajul Haq said that overseas Pakistanis should be given the right of vote, adding that the seats in parliament should be reserved for the overseas Pakistanis and constituencies should be allocated and voting should be held for overseas Pakistanis in foreign countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United States, United Kingdom and other countries of the world.

Sirajul Haq said that certainly Kashmir will be liberated as there is no other way but for this purpose there is need of carrying out struggle, adding that it is other thing the Kashmir dispute is not alive due to us and Pakistan but due to the immense sacrifices of the Kashmiris themselves. He said that it is matter of shame that our government did nothing, adding that 46 NATO countries faced defeat in Afghanistan and United States faced defeat in Vietnam, adding that with the blessings of Almighty Allah, Indian army will also face defeat in occupied Kashmir. He said that Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik has been awarded 24 years imprisonment sentence, adding that Yasin Malik has not committed any crime as he only demands freedom.

Sirajul Haq said that JI carries out politics for the masses and if the Almighty Allah will give chance to JI we will present such model of which people will be proud of. He said that if Almighty Allah will give us chance our vision is clear that education and health is our responsibility and we will make it priority and will spend money on health.

Sirajul Haq said that we are not against the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) but these should be tested first in local government elections that whether it is reliable or not. He said that if electricity load shedding is carried out on the election day then you can not say the millions of people should come next day for use of their right of vote, adding that in a country where electricity load shedding is carried how you could use EVMs.

He said that Imran Khan’s government performance has severely disappointed his workers and masses. He said that JI stick to the stance that the country will only make progress when there will be Islamic system in the country and change of persons, parties, faces, families and landlords will make no difference.
