Farooq Rehmani pays rich tributes to the life & freedom struggle of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah
ISLAMABAD, Dec 25 (SABAH): Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League and ex-Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJ&K, while paying rich tributes to the life and freedom struggle of the 20th century’s great statesman and self-less leader of the Indian Muslims Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, urged upon the people and the political leaders of Pakistan to follow the his foot-prints, who believed and fought for a truly social welfare state on the principle of parliamentary democracy, independent judiciary, free media and education for all irrespective of Upper and lower classes in the society.
In a statement issued on Monday, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that the great leader adopted constitutional and peaceful methods to achieve his goal of a free, independent and sovereign Muslim State on the principles of the Islamic polity.
He believed in the Islamic economic system and eradication of feudal and repressive capitalism. Quaid wanted freedom and economic independence for all the ethnic minorities of India. He demanded self rule and the right of self-determination for the princely States of the British India. His vision was very clear about the princely State of Jammu and Kashmir, whose ruler enjoyed sufficient autonomous powers under the British rule.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that when the question of Kashmir’s future became uncertain due to the Congress duplicity, Quaid agreed to a meeting with Pt. Nehru in Lahore, but the latter didn’t turn up making excuses of illness. However, Mr Jinnah firmly stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were unquestionably masters of their political future, and they had equally power under the principles of the Partition and the right of self-determination to decide their future set-up between India and Pakistan. Pakistan, Quaid assured, would honour their decision.
But, unfortunately, India sabotaged all peaceful initiatives and invaded and annexed Jammu and Kashmir by force the British backed Indian army.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani urged upon the political parties and rulers of Pakistan to work for an economically strong Pakistan by pledging to eradicate feudalism from the country and making basic changes in the traditional foreign policy, so that the critical and uncertain financial and political times were surpassed and really a bright and future-looking parliament came into existence to successfully lead Pakistan. Only with a clear vision in view, the country can successfully embrace her destination, he concluded.
