DFP strongly condemns fresh arrest spree of youths in IOK, seeks early release of political prisoners
SRINAGAR, Nov 30 (SABAH): Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has strongly condemned recent arrest spree of Kashmiri youths by Indian occupation forces in the held territory and termed the move as part of government’s policy to choke every kind of dissent in the region.
In a statement issued on Saturday, DFP Spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal, while citing the violent cordon-and-search operations in various districts, including Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi, and Doda where dozens of youths were arrested, said that the occupation forces deployed in length and breadth of the state have unleashed a reign of terror in the region.
Referring to intensified military operations, nocturnal raids, and harassment and arbitrary arrests innocent civilians during cordon and search operations, Iqbal said that the Indian trigger happy forces have been employing violent tactics to suppress the Kashmiri freedom struggle. He said that such mean tactics won’t deter Kashmiris from pursuing their collective cause.
Meanwhile, the DFP spokesman voiced his party’s serious concern over the continued detention of the party chairman Shabir Ahmed Shah and other Kashmiri prisoners who have been languishing far off jails in different Indian states.
Seeking an early release of all the illegally detained Kashmiri prisoners, he urged the international community to pressurize India to release all detainees and resolve the lingering dispute of Kashmir that has been the main cause of bloodshed and violence in the region.
